She knows me too well

As I'm getting into my car.....

Mom: Don't get lost. Call me if you do.

At 4, he already knows how to un-friend.

Yes, I do realize that the majority of my posts are about children. But please forgive me. I just can't help it. They say and do the funniest things. Seriously.

Let me tell you about one of my many funny kids I babysit.
His name is Jackson. He has the longest hair on a little boy ever. He has a brush that he uses on himself, and submits to it being put in a ponytail. He's 4 years old and just started using complete sentences this year. Before that he used one word: tractor. Tractors were his purpose it life. Around 3 he started changing it up a little.
"Jule? (his name for me) Tractor? Drive? Tractor? "
He stuck to the basics. I like that about him.
Anyway, I had the privilege of babysitting him yesterday. As soon as I walked in he said, "Jule! You're my best friend!" I was touched. This kid made me day.

Until he found his toy elf.
 "Oh! He's my best friend!"

and I showed him an old snail shell.
"Aww...that's my best friend"

My bubble was a little on the popped side after that. But I still love him, he's just not as high on my best friends list as he was.

Appyha Irthdayba!! (happy birthday in pig latin....I think)

This is to a friend who I love very much.

I love her because she laughs at my corny jokes.

Because she eats off the dollar menu with me.

Because she thinks everything is awkward.

That friend is Eleanor. And yesterday was her birthday.

Happy Birthday to a God-sent friend. I love you much.

P.S. I'm sorry this is late, but maybe you'll forgive me since you're in the mountains of smoke.

They keep you on your toes.

Mariana (my 8 year old sister) : "Ask me what a burrito is."

Me: "What's a burrito?"

Mariana: "I don't know. You're asking me!"

Powerful words

Do not I love Thee, O my Lord?
Behold my heart and see,
And turn each cursed idol out that dares to rival Thee.

Do not I love Thee from my soul? Then let me nothing love;
Dead me my heart to every joy which Thou dost not approve.

Out of the mouths of babes

Every so often, I have the privilege to babysit Charlie and Nora Strevel. They are two adorable little girls who I love very much.
Charlie has recently started thinking out loud in book dialog. A few weeks ago I overheard her as we were walking outside narrating this:

"Julia and Charlie were best buddies. One day while they were outside, Charlie decided to tie Julia to a tree with her rope...."

Well, she'll write interesting books.

New Generation

The children born in America during the Twenty-first century will not know about home phones, cassette tapes, boards games, or even dial up. Some of the things they will know are (but certainly not limited to) text messages, computers, and last but certainly not least......silly bands.
I did not realize that learning to "decode" silly bands was a skill until today.

"Oh, is that a teapot sill band Emma?"

"Julia, that's an eagle head."
